As we have already informed you, South Korean maker Hyundai is working on bringing out the model update for their bestselling SUV Creta by next year and the latest generation model of the SUV has also been presented in China (Hyundai iX25). This will be the first generation update for Creta ever since it was launched in the Indian market in 2015 and it will come after a gap of 5 years as the updated model is expected to be launched some time in 2020. The SUV was also spotted testing in India some time back. The all-new generation of the SUV will be based on the same platform as the Kia Seltos and it will also use the same set of engines. The upcoming generation of Creta will be larger in size as compared to the current version and there are reports that the company is also planning on bringing out the 7 seater version of the SUV sometime after the 5 seater version of the SUV is launched in the Indian market.
Talking of the dimensions of the upcoming next gen Creta, there are reports that the length of the SUV will be 30mm larger than the model that is sold in the Indian market as of now. The width of the next gen SUV will also be 10mm larger than the current model. Although, what will take a small hit is the height of the upcoming generation of the SUV which will go down by 8mm to give the upcoming SUV a more proportionate look. The wheelbase of the upcoming generation of the SUV will also be increased by 20 mm which will translate into a lot of space inside the car.
The recent display of iX25 also gave us a hint as to what look the upcoming Creta can carry in the Indian market. The South Korean maker has inculcated its latest design language seen on Kona and the Santa Fe in the next gen model of Creta as well. The headlamps and the LED DRLs switch places and the turn indicators are at the top of headlamps. Further down, one finds the fog lamps, which are placed below the triangular housing of headlamps and beside the silver scuffs that are located beneath the grille. Looking at the grille itself, one can see the signature Hyundai cascading grille in the new generation Creta that is enclosed in a chrome surrounding and comes with a thick chrome bar on the top. However, this design may be changed a lot when the car makes its way to Indian shores.
It is already common knowledge that the upcoming next gen Creta will come with the same engines that one will see on the soon to be launched Kia Seltos. Talking of the engine offered on the Kia Seltos, the petrol units will be a 1.5L naturally aspirated unit rated to deliver 113 Bhp and 138 Nm. The next option in the petrol line-up will be a 1.4L turbo petrol unit rated to deliver 138 Bhp and 242 Nm. Moving on to the diesel option, the diesel unit will be a 1.5L turbo unit rated to deliver 113 Bhp and 250 Nm. One can expect the same options to be seen on next gen Creta as well. The 1.4L turbo petrol could be seen on the Creta under the badge of the N-Power variant, similar to the GT Line variant of Kia Seltos. Notably, Hyundai will offer the 1.5L diesel and petrol engines with the upcoming facelifted version of Verna sedan as well.
