Hyundai recently unveiled the iX25 at the Shanghai Motor Show in China and the South Korean maker will launch the next generation model of the Creta SUV based on the same car. This will be the first generation update for Creta ever since it was launched in the Indian market in 2015 and it will come after a gap of 5 years as the updated model is expected to be launched some time in 2020. Now the SUV has also been spied during testing in India. The new spyshots show the upcoming next generation model of the SUV in a heavily camouflaged form and not a lot can be distinguished from the photos. However, one can expect the car to borrow heavily from the iX25 that was showcased by the brand in China.
Avid motorheads will remember that the Creta had initially debuted in China itself and then was brought to India in 2015. Something similar will be witnessed with the next generation model of the compact SUV as well, as the launch of new generation Hyundai Creta in India is supposed to take place some time next year. The new model of Creta will come with a new platform and new engine setup as well. This will mean that one can expect to see major changes on the upcoming Creta.
The new generation of the compact SUV from the South Korean brand will come with newly developed 1.5L turbo petrol and turbo diesel engines that will follow the latest emission norms. Something that will also make an appearance on the Kia Seltos. Apart from all the changes above, the size of Hyundai Creta will also increase as the newer model is larger and wider than before. This may push the prices of the next generation model up by a bit, but nothing concrete can be said as of now.
The recent display of iX25 also gave us a hint as to what look the upcoming Creta can carry in the Indian market. The South Korean maker has inculcated its latest design language seen on Kona and the Santa Fe in the next gen model of Creta as well. The headlamps and the LED DRLs switch places and the turn indicators are at the top of headlamps. Further down, one finds the fog lamps, which are placed below the triangular housing of headlamps and beside the silver scuffs that are located beneath the grille. Looking at the grille itself, one can see the signature Hyundai cascading grille in the new generation Creta that is enclosed in a chrome surrounding and comes with a thick chrome bar on the top. However, this design may be changed a lot when the car makes its way to Indian shores.
The new version of the Creta is expected to come with even more premium features and this may also mean a bump in prices. However, the company is tight-lipped about the same as of now. With the launch of the Creta SUV expected to take place some time in 2020, only time will tell what Creta has in store for us.
