Nissan India unveiled the concept version of its Magnite B-SUV on 16th July. The Japanese automaker plans to introduce the SUV in the Indian market in the coming months. A leaked spy image of the production-ready version of the Nissan Magnite reveals its front end. It will be manufactured at the Renault-Nissan’s production unit in Tamil Nadu. The Magnite could be a game-changer for the company in India, helping it garner share in the highly competitive subcompact SUV market. Nissan Magnite price could start around Rs 5.25 Lakhs for the entry-level variant. It will compete against Maruti Vitara Brezza, Hyundai Venue, Tata Nexon and Ford EcoSport in the sub 4-meter SUV segment in India.
The production-ready Magnite is similar to the concept which is evident by the leaked image. It features the kick style headlamps, the sculpted bonnet and large octagonal grille with chrome accents. The difference between the concept and the production model lies in the front skid plates and the tyres as the plates come with four indents and the production-spec Magnite runs on normal on-road tyres. The concept Magnite was shown running on off-road tyres. Nissan Magnite design and wheel size would be significantly toned down in comparison to the concept model. The front grille won’t have the red accents as seen in the concept one.
The Nissan Magnite seen in the leaked image is most probably a base or mid-level variant. The base model wouldn’t feature LED headlamps and L-shaped LED DRLs in the bumper. The base model instead comes with chrome trims in the bumper and normal halogen headlights. The number plate bracket will be mounted below the front grille as evident in the spy image. It will feature Nissan’s new logo design.
At the world premiere of Nissan Magnite, the manufacturer revealed that it will come with features like the 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system, connected car technology, cruise control and a 360-degree camera. The top-spec variants will be equipped with premium features like full-LED headlamps with L-shaped DRL’s in the bumper, Automatic climate control and steering-mounted controls.
The Magnite will be offered with two engine options. The 1.0-litre, three-cylinder, naturally aspirated petrol engine churning out 72 hp of power. and a 1.0-litre, three-cylinder turbo-petrol unit delivering 95hp.
