Nissan Magnite has finally made its world premiere in concept form and it will be launched within the FY 2020 in India. The term "Magnite" is portmanteau of the words “magnetic” and “ignite” where magnetic highlights the design and the product attributes while ignite emphasises on the beginning of a new era that Nissan wants to bring in India. The sub-compact SUV will be locally developed at the company's manufacturing facility in Tamil Nadu with production-ready model retaining most of the elements of the Concept. Nissan Magnite price is expected to start at Rs 5.25 Lakhs (Ex. Showroom) in the Indian market.
“The Nissan Magnite is an evolutionary leap in Nissan’s global SUV DNA. With cutting-edge technology onboard, it will be a game-changer in its segment. A bold offering in the sub-four-meter category, we are confident that Nissan Magnite will redefine the B-SUV segment for the industry. The Nissan Magnite is made on the philosophy of ‘Make in India, Make for the World’ and has been designed in Japan while keeping in mind the requirements and aspirations of Indian customers.” said Rakesh Srivastava, Managing Director, Nissan Motor India. Going by the images, Nissan Magnite flaunts peeled-back headlamps which are inspired from the Kicks. The octagonal front grille and L-shaped DRLs are reminiscent of the recently launched Datsun redi-GO facelift.
For those asking, the Magnite was originally poised to debut as a Datsun product but later on, it was moved to Nissan brand. The SUV is expected to get 16-inch wheels, cladding near wheel arches and blackened A-Pillar with contrasting roof. The interior has not been revealed by Nissan in images but it is expected to come with several premium features such as an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with connected technology, Apple CarPlay & Android Auto, 360-degree camera, cruise control, Auto climate control and steering-mounted controls. Mechanically, Nissan Magnite will be offered in four powertrain-transmission choices which include a 1.0L naturally aspirated petrol unit with both manual and AMT gearbox options and a 1.0L turbocharged petrol engine with manual as well as CVT gearboxes.
