The new electric crossover concept shows the company’s autonomous AI-based tech.

Nissan has unveiled the IMx Kuro (Kuro means black in Japanese). The IMx was first revealed at the Tokyo Motor Show in October 2017. This concept shows us the future of Nissan Intelligent Mobility, the company's vision on how cars should be powered, driven and integrated into society. The concept showcased the integration of Nissan's Brain-to-Vehicle (B2V) technology, which is a first of its kind.

The driver wears a device that measures brain wave activity, which is then analyzed by autonomous systems, which then anticipates intended movement, post which, the system responds. This includes tasks like steering the wheel or slowing the car – 0.2 to 0.5 seconds faster than the driver, while remaining largely imperceptible.

"The IMx KURO zero-emission crossover concept vehicle embodies the future of Nissan Intelligent Mobility," said Jose Munoz, Nissan's chief performance officer. "Nissan Intelligent Mobility is Nissan's commitment to changing the way people and cars communicate, as well as how cars interact with society in the near future and beyond."

Artificial intelligence allows you to control the instrument panel with eye movements and hand gestures. The core of this system is a future version of ProPilot, which offers fully autonomous operation. The concept is built on Nissan's new electric vehicle platform, designed for maximum efficiency. The IMx Kuro has a pair of high-output electric motors at the front and rear, that make 320 kW of power combined and an astounding 700Nm. This battery can cover 600km on a single charge.
