The power source for the Z Nismo remains the familiar 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 gasoline engine used in the regular Z model. However, notable modifications have been introduced to enhance its performance, resulting in a boost in power output to 425 horsepower and 520 Nm of torque. These upgrades mark an increase of 20 horsepower and 45Nm compared to the standard model. Noteworthy adjustments to the engine include a refined electronic turbo wastegate control system, an independent ignition spark timing system inspired by the GT-R Nismo, and an improved engine oil-cooling mechanism.
Differing from the standard Z variant, the Z Nismo exclusively offers an automatic transmission option. This 9-speed torque converter unit efficiently channels power to the rear wheels. Nissan has incorporated a revamped clutch system in the Z Nismo, enabling quicker gear shifts than those in the regular Z model. Additionally, the Z Nismo comes equipped with launch control functionality and introduces a new Sport+ drive mode.
Significant enhancements have been made to various aspects of the Z Nismo's chassis and suspension systems. Nismo engineers have effectively heightened the chassis
stiffness by 2.5 percent, achieved through supplementary bracing. The suspension setup has been bolstered with stiffer suspension bushings, increased stabilizer bars, a more rigid spring rate, and larger dampers that have been recalibrated. These combined improvements are aimed at refining the Z Nismo's overall handling performance.
Braking capabilities have also been upgraded on the Z Nismo. It features larger front rotors measuring 15 inches, along with 13.8-inch rear rotors. These are complemented by what Nissan labels a "performance-focused brake pad compound." Additionally, the Z Nismo boasts stylish 19-inch gloss-black Rays alloy wheels, wrapped in sporty Dunlop tires that are 10mm wider at the rear.
The exterior of the Nissan Z Nismo has undergone several alterations with a focus on enhancing aerodynamics. These changes encompass a lengthened front section, inspired by the design of the Nissan Fairlady 240ZG. Notable exterior modifications include a restyled front grille, canards positioned at the front bumper edges, an expanded and elevated rear spoiler, and a reshaped rear bumper influenced by the GT-R Nismo. A distinctive red accent line runs along the lower section of the Z Nismo from its front to rear. The window line has been blacked out, and the vehicle's roof is also finished in black. The Z Nismo is available in five distinct colors: Black Diamond Pearl, Brilliant Silver, Passion Red TriCoat, Everest White Pearl TriCoat, and the exclusive Stealth Grey reserved for NISMO models.
Inside the cabin, the Nismo variant features Recaro bucket seats adorned with leather and Alcantara upholstery. The digital instrument cluster showcases Nismo-specific graphics, and the steering wheel, covered in leather and Alcantara, features a red marker at the 12 o'clock position. Various smaller details within the cabin are highlighted in red.
The new Nissan Z Nismo is set to be released in international markets later this year. However, prospects for an India launch appear dim. Despite having just one model, the Magnite, available in the Indian market, Nissan has confirmed its intention to introduce three new products developed in collaboration with its alliance partner, Renault.
