Ola electric scooter is likely to be launched in the second half of this year

The Ola electric scooter is likely to be launched sometime in the second half of 2021 in the country. Ahead of the official launch, the scooter was spotted doing test runs. Spy images of the same have been leaked online. Ola cabs had acquired Netherlands-based electric scooter company, Etergo in May last year.

From the spy images, we could see that the electric scooter looked quite similar to the Etergo AppScooter. Furthermore, it gets the same single telescopic front suspension. Besides these, the premium electric scooter will feature an LED headlamp, LED taillight, alloy wheels, front disc brake and colour TFT instrument display with smartphone connectivity features. Ola might make some noticeable changes in the scooter to make it more apt for the Indian customers and also to keep the cost in check. We could also expect the company to launch multiple variants with different battery sizes.

Performance-wise, the Ola electric scooter is likely to get a similar banana-shaped removable lithium-ion battery pack as seen in the Etergo scooter. The battery pack is expected to have a range of up to 240 kms. Other details about the specifications have not been revealed yet.

We can expect the starting price to be at around Rs 1 lakh (ex-showroom). Once launched, it is likely to rival the likes of Ather 450X, Bajaj e-Chetak and TVS iQube. Once the production of the Ola electric scooter gets completed, Ola electric’s Tamil Nadu plant is expected to generate 10,000 employment opportunities. They also have an installed annual production capacity of 2 million units.
