Ola is getting ready to introduce the UPI payment option for its taxi users. The CEO of Ola Electric, Bhavish Aggarwal, has posted a statement on social media that Ola taxi users will now be able to make online payments exclusively via the app. Ola will initially roll out this feature for its Bengaluru customers and later to the other regions of the nation.

Ola taxi users in Bengaluru will now be able to pay drivers directly using UPI via the ride-hailing app. Cab users can also pay the drivers for their rides by scanning the QR code shown on the driver’s specialized driver app. The CEO of Ola Electric, Mr. Bhavish Aggarwal, claimed in his social media post that this service would be available to all Ola cab passengers across the country by December 2023.

Ola has been adding several new features to its app so that it can provide different facilities and services to users. The company made a partnership with ONDC a few days ago to provide food delivery services using their own apps. The partnership between these two firms came into action in September 2023.

With the help of this newly formed partnership with ONDC, Ola is set to utilize its taxi drivers as last-mile delivery agents for a variety of products, including apparel, groceries, medications, etc. As part of the partnership, the two companies are considering going beyond logistics to offer mobility services via ONDC as well.

The CEO of Ola Electric, Bhavish Aggarwal, stated in his social media post that "revamping the digital payments experience in Ola cab rides, you'll be able to use UPI to pay the driver directly through the Ola app, just like UPI is used daily."

The Bengaluru-based startup is growing its business into different dimensions within the ride-hailing sector via the Ola app. The start-up now provides buyers with the option to purchase an Ola electric scooter through the app. Consumers can easily book their preferred e-scooter within the Ola app and can go ahead with the payment process.
