Honda is simultaneously selling the older-generation and new-generation models of City sedan in India

Honda Cars India is offering benefits and discounts worth upto Rs 1.60 Lakhs on the fourth-gen (older) City sedan in the country. The company is retailing the new-gen model of City, which was officially launched a couple of months back in India, alongside the older model. The older Honda City is presently offered in four grades: SV, V, VX and ZX. However, the discounts are offered on the two range-topping VX and ZX variants as it is being learnt that they will be discontinued soon while the entry-level SV and V trims will be on sale.

Speaking of Honda City ZX, it is available with discounts upto Rs 1.30-1.60 Lakhs. The CVT automatic variant attracts higher cash discount value of Rs 1.10 Lakhs while the manual gearbox variants can be availed at cash discounts worth Rs 80,000. Coming to the VX CVT grade, it comes with cash discounts of upto Rs 70,000. In addition to the aforementioned cash benefits, all the three variants - ZX CVT, ZX MT and VX CVT - get exchange bonuses of upto Rs 50,000. Last but not the least, the base SV and V derivatives are available with discounts worth Rs 51,000 including cash and exchange benefits. Honda is intending to clear the inventory of ZX and VX grades before finally axing them and hence, it is offering such heavy discounts.

The reason Honda is planning to streamline the older City variant line-up by phasing out the top-end variants is due to the fear of overlap with the new-gen model. Meanwhile, in other news, Honda Civic diesel BS6 is also available at cash discounts of around Rs 2.50 Lakhs while the petrol counterparts can be availed at benefits worth upto Rs 1 Lakh. The company's subcompact sedan Amaze is being offered with fourth and fifth year extended warranty free of cost, besides the exchange bonus of Rs 15,000. Honda Cars India launched multiple new products in the country this year in the form of WR-V facelift, fifth-gen 2020 City and BS6 Civic diesel. Now, it is all geared up for new Jazz's launch, bookings of which have already commenced.
