Jaguar Land Rover is all set to introduce the Range Rover Fifty to celebrate the luxury SUVs 50 years of innovation, refinement, and all-terrain capability. Only 1970 units of the Limited Edition will be available globally with an aim to mark the 1970th birth year of the model. The original luxury SUV was launched in 1970. It was the first SUV to feature a permanent 4WD (Wheel-Drive) system. In 1989, the SUV was the world’s first 4x4 to be fitted with ABS. Then again in 1992, it became the world’s first 4x4 to be fitted with electronic traction control (ETC) and automatic electronic air suspension. The latest generation of Range Rover became the world’s first SUV to feature an all-aluminium lightweight construction in 2012.
Cosmetically, the Range Rover Fifty offers bespoke exterior accents in Auric Atlas and two 22-inch alloy wheels. There is a badge present on the exterior of the vehicle that features a ‘Fifty’ script personally created by Gerry McGovern OBE, Land Rover’s Chief Creative Officer. As for interior features, this Limited Edition features “1 of 1970” center console commissioning plaque, headrests, dashboard and illuminated skid plates.
“In the world of luxury vehicles, the Range Rover has always stood apart as peerless and enduring. Its unique and pioneering sensibilities together with an unrivaled engineering approach have been the intrinsic values which our customers have admired since the first of the breed was revealed in 1970,” commented Gerry McGovern OBE, Land Rover Chief Creative Officer.
