The company is set to expand its Duster line-up with the introduction of a new petrol automatic variant.

While the diesel model uses a six-speed AMT gearbox, the soon-to-be-launched petrol automatic model will use a CVT gearbox. The petrol automatic car will continue to use the 104hp, 1.6-litre engine currently used in the petrol manual version. Renault is looking to give the slow-selling petrol Duster a shot in the arm since buyers tend to sway to the diesel models more.

Currently, the Duster petrol manual is on offer in the mid-level RxE and RxL trims. It isn’t certain which trim will get the new automatic. The Duster petrol CVT will allow Renault to take on the likes of Hyundai’s Creta and Honda’s BR-V, both of which are on sale with a petrol automatic variant.
