The car has been through 15 iterations since the original arrived in 1955.

The company has shown images of its Crown concept sedan. The car will debut at the upcoming Tokyo Motor Show. This version will be the fifteenth generation of the popular car, which was launched way back in 1955.

This car, however, will only be sold in Japan. The Crown concept showcases what to expect from the Japan-focused model and also comes with Internet of Things connectivity that includes vehicle-to-vehicle communications and better safety tech.

The car is built on the Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA) platform, which underpins cars like the new Camry, Prius and the Tj Cruiser concept SUV. Using this platform suggests that some degree of electrification will be offered on the car in the future as well.

The company has also been testing this car at the famed Nurburgring, which means you may just see a driver-focussed version as well.
