The company will launch the Kaptur in India later this year.

Renault’s India-bound Captur crossover cleared the Latin NCAP crash test with a four star rating for adult protection and three stars for child occupant protection.

The car registered a score of 30.27 (out of 34 possible) in adult protection and 33.68 points, against 49 possible in child protection. This car features four airbags as standard, electronic stability control, an Isofix system to secure child seats in the back seat and it comes with seat belts with pretensioners.

According to the testing agency, the Captur offered good protection to the head and neck of the driver and the passenger. The chest of the driver received ‘marginal’ protection, while the passenger's chest received good protection. Knee protection of both occupants was adequate, however, the passenger's knees received better protection than the driver. In the lateral impact test, the lateral airbag of head-thorax offered good protection to the head, the abdomen and the pelvis, providing adequate protection to the thorax.

Right-hand-drive versions of this car are undergoing road testing in India and test mules have been spotted multiple times. The company has lined up the car for an India launch later this year. The Kaptur is likely to be positioned somewhere in between the popular small SUV and the more premium soft-roader segments. Expect prices to be in the region of ₹16 lakh (ex-showroom) when launched.
