Ahead of the launch in March 2021, Renault Kiger starts arriving at the dealerships.

A few days back, Renault Kiger was unveiled globally. The launch is scheduled to happen in March 2021 with bookings opening up in the coming days. Renault India wants to create a niche for itself in the highly lucrative and crowded subcompact SUV segment in the country. The Indian buyers can expect the Renault Kiger to retail at a starting price of Rs 5 Lakhs (ex-showroom, India). This pricing scheme would undercut rivals like Nissan Magnite, Kia Sonet, Maruti Vitara Brezza, Tata Nexon and Toyota Urban Cruiser in the Indian market. If the pricing remains lower than Nissan Magnite which retails at Rs 5.49 Lakhs (ex-showroom, India), Renault Kiger would become the most affordable subcompact SUV in India. This pricing scheme would sit well with the budget-conscious Indian buyers who are looking for an affordable option in the segment. As we inch close to the official launch, the model has been spotted arriving at the dealerships.

Ahead of the launch, Renault India has also released the first Television Commercial (TVC) of the Kiger. The video has offered glimpses of the upcoming SUV. The production-spec Kiger design is quite similar to the Kwid currently selling in the domestic market. Based on the CMF-A+ platform which underpins the Nissan Magnite, it flaunts chrome influenced grille and vertically-split headlamps. Also, the car comes loaded with C-shaped LED tail lights, roof rails and a roof-mounted spoiler. Dimension wise, Renault Kiger stands 3,991 mm long, 1,750 mm in width and 1,600 mm tall. The ground clearance stands at 205mm which is quite good if we are talking about a subcompact SUV while riding on a set of 16-inch alloy wheels.

Moving to the interior, the upcoming model will come packed with features like floating 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with support for Android Auto & Apple CarPlay, 7-inch fully-digital instrument console, automatic climate control, wireless smartphone charger, ambient LED lighting and air purifier. The interior comes in a dark grey scheme giving a premium appearance to the cabin. The sound system is the Arkamys audio unit with 4 speakers and 4 tweeters. The biggest disappointment lies in the absence of a sunroof in Renault Kiger

The upcoming Renault Kiger comes with 2 petrol engine options same as the Nissan Magnite. The 1.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine belts out 72 bhp of power output and 96 Nm of torque while the 1.0-litre turbocharged unit delivers 100 bhp of maximum power and 160 Nm of peak torque. The naturally aspirated petrol engine will come with manual and AMT gearbox options while the turbocharged unit comes with manual and CVT automatic options.
