2021 Renault Kiger will offer more features in comparison to Nissan Magnite

Renault is preparing to introduce the all-new Kiger compact SUV anytime soon in the Indian market. Ahead of the official launch, test mules of the new compact SUV were spotted doing test runs on the road. Spy shots of the same have been leaked online. The spy images reveal a total of three test mules under heavy camouflage. One of the test mules was seen having an additional cladding on the roof. This further indicates that the top-end trim of the Kiger might get an electric sunroof. The SUV’s sibling, Nissan Magnite misses out on this feature. As for price, we can expect the Kiger to fall in the range of Rs 5.5 lakh - Rs 11 lakh (ex-showroom).

The compact SUV, Kiger will be based on the CMF-A+ platform which also underpins models such as the Magnite, Kwid, and Triber. Furthermore, the CMF (Common Module Family) platform has been developed as part of the Renault–Nissan–Mitsubishi Alliance partnership. From these spy shots, we could clearly see that the new Kiger will feature a split LED headlight setup with LED DRLs. The front bumper will house a wide air dam and underbody cladding. Other design bits include a prominent front grille, dual-tone alloy wheels, and LED taillights.

The cabin of the Renault Kiger will boast of a new dashboard that has horizontally positioned AC vents. Other highlighted features will include an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment unit compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, automatic climate control, a 3-spoke steering wheel with mounted controls, a digital instrument cluster, among many others.

Under the bonnet, the upcoming Kiger will get two petrol engines. A 1.0-litre naturally-aspirated petrol unit that churns out 71 bhp power and 96 Nm torque. This engine powers the Triber MPV as well. The motor will be mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. The top-end variant is likely to get a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine that will generate 100 bhp power and 160 Nm torque. The power plant will be on offer with a 5-speed manual transmission and a 6-speed CVT gearbox.
