The plans of various automakers were jolted by the Coronavirus outbreak in the Indian market in 2020. With the transition from BS4 to BS6 era already underway, automobile manufacturers were launching BS6 compliant vehicles in the country. Renault India had already launched the Duster compact SUV in BS6 avatar last month but the much anticipated launch of the Triber AMT was delayed. With the easing of the nationwide restrictions., Renault is likely to launch the Triber AMT on May 18 according to a leaked document. Being based on the CMF-A+ platform, the automatic MPV will be a key offering from the French automaker in the Indian market in 2020 in order to drive up sales. Renault Triber AMT price will be around Rs 50,000 more than the manual trim.
Renault had earlier showcased the Triber AMT for the Indian market at the Auto Expo 2020. It has been spotted testing on the Indian roads several times in past and finally, it will be available for the Indian consumers post May 18. Renault has sold 24,142 units of the Triber seven-seater MPV since its launch in August 2019 but the lack of an AMT gearbox was a disappointment for the Indian consumers till now. With Triber AMT launch, Renault is well-equipped to compete against Maruti Suzuki Ertiga in India.
The new Renault Triber AMT will be powered by the same BS6 compliant 1.0L three-cylinder engine which is seen in the manual version. The engine generates maximum power output of 71bhp and peak torque performance of 96Nm. If we compare the manual version and the upcoming AMT Triber, the only difference is the inclusion of the AMT unit.
Expect the same features of manual version make their way into the Triber AMT such as LED Instrument Cluster, Twin AC with Vents on 2nd and 3rd Row, Push Start-Stop Button, 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple Carplay and Android Auto compatibility. There are other key features expected like Push Start-Stop Button, Dual Front Airbags (Driver and Passenger) + 2 Side Airbags (Front Seats). The same dual tone dashboard with silver accents present in the regular MPV will be making an appearance in the AMT Triber.
In terms of exterior, it will flaunt projector headlamps with LED DRLs and triple edge chrome front grille with a high ground clearance of 182mm. The upcoming 2020 Renault Triber AMT is expected to be offered in 3 variants with the base RxE trim being the only one not having an AMT gearbox.
