Royal Enfield has launched the updated version of the Bullet that comes with rear disc brake as standard.

The Indian bike manufacturer has now updated the Bullet range with rear disc brake as standard. While this boosts the safety quotient of the Royal Enfield Bullet, there is still no ABS on offer. However, Royal Enfield is expected to equip all the bikes in their range with ABS before April 2019 ahead of the safety norms taking place.

Earlier, the Royal Enfield Bullet had front disc brake and rear drum brake. The rear disc equipped Bullet range comes with a starting price of Rs.1.28 lakhs for the Bullet 350. The Bullet 350 ES is priced at Rs. 1.32 lakhs while the Bullet 500 retails at Rs. 1.73 lakhs (all prices, ex-showroom).

Apart from the addition of rear disc brake, the Bullet series remains the same in terms of styling and mechanicals. We expect the Indian motorcycle maker to add at least a single-channel ABS to the Bullet series before the mandatory norms come into play.

Powering the Royal Enfield Bullet 350 is the same 346cc, single-cylinder engine that produces 20 HP at 5250 RPM and 28 Nm of torque at 4000 RPM. While the Bullet 500 comes with a 499cc engine, which produces 28 HP at 5250 RPM and 41.3 Nm of torque at 4000 RPM.
