Royal Enfield is quietly becoming a raging choice of motorcycle for consumers worldwide. The first motorcycle to emerge from the production line was in 1901 and it’s going strong for over a century now. The longevity of success is a remarkable testament to the engine and the design of Royal Enfield motorcycles. It’s not just the Royal Enfield bikes that are in high demand, modified ones continue to be spotted on roads and at automotive designers workshops. This year, we have covered plenty of exciting and classy Royal Enfield modifications and once in a while, something special comes our way. That as an example, this stunning modification was undertaken by Ludhiana based Cycle City Customs.  The customized Royal Enfield Classic 500 design, as well as performance, makes it one of the most tastefully done Royal Enfield bikes done in recent times. Vajra is a Sanskrit word for thunderbolt and well, Royal Enfield Vajra is a thunderbolt in performance.

The designers transformed the Royal Enfield Classic 500 into a cafe racer nicknamed Royal Enfield Vajra, an intriguing and a complex choice of modification. The shiny Cafe Racer sports a red coloured chassis and has a customized saddle with polished aluminium bodywork. The contrasting use of colour lends an attractive charm to the modified Royal Enfield. The designers use of custom rear sub-frame, low clip-on handlebar and swing arms aims to provide the rider the ultimate cafe racer experience.

The design outfit modified the engine with addition of new components sourced from the British Hitchcock motorcycles. The stock 500-cc single-cylinder air-cooled engine has been given a big block translating to a rise in displacement to 612cc. The revamped engine delivers a robust 40 bhp of power due to the addition of components like gaskets, updated bearings, K&N filter, high-compression Wossner Pistons and Dynojet plugged into ECU unit. Increasing the sportiness of the Royal Enfield Vajra is a custom exhaust and quick shifter.

What makes the Royal Enfield Vajra stand out among its peers? Well, it delivers more power and is lighter in weight when compared to the stock one. Thus the cafe racer delivers 40 bhp of power with just 154 kgs kerb weight while the stock Royal Enfield 500 Classic produces 27 bhp and has a kerb weight of 197 kgs. It is being claimed that the modified Royal Enfield Classic 500 can clock a maximum speed of 180 kmph. While its suspension duties are handled by WP inverted telescopic unit up front with a monoshock towards the rear. The modified motorcycle sports twin disc brakes. The front disc brake is larger than the stock one while rear drum brake gets interchanged with disc.
