Royal Enfield Meteor is all set to replace the Thunderbird 350 in the Indian market

Royal Enfield is likely to launch the Meteor 350 in September this year. The motorcycle will replace the Thunderbird 350 in the market. However, it is likely to be offered with an entirely new bodywork besides retaining the core character of the tourer. The two-wheeler has been spied doing test rides in the production-ready format on multiple occasions. This further confirms that the launch of the motorcycle is coming soon. Earlier, it was scheduled to be launched in April but due to the global pandemic, its launch was delayed. We can expect the new motorcycle to be slightly more expensive than the Thunderbird 350. It will most likely to be priced around Rs 1.75 lakh (ex-showroom) when launched in the country.

In comparison to its predecessor, the new Meteor 350 will be light, powerful, and more responsive. In terms of features, the upcoming Royal Enfield Meteor 350 will offer a round-shaped halogen headlamp with LED DRLs. The bike will get a split seat setup and will ride on a new set of alloy wheels. The rear-end will boast of a round-shaped tail-light and indicators thus giving a vintage appeal to the motorcycle. Furthermore, it will also gets a twin-pod instrument panel. The rearview mirrors get a classic design. The bike gets a bold look due to its blacked-out color theme on the engine, exhaust, and wheels.

Under the frame, the Meteor 350 will draw its power from a BS6 compliant 349cc single-cylinder engine sourced from Royal Enfield Bullet Classic 350. The engine will come equipped with a single overhead camshaft (SOHC) and an electronic fuel-injection system. Thus the powerplant will produce 19.8 bhp power output and 28 Nm of peak torque while being mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox.

The upcoming Meteor 350 will be using a new modular J platform that has a tubular frame configuration similar to its predecessor. Talking about the suspensions then it will be taken care by telescopic forks upfront and two-gas charged shock absorbers towards the rear. As for brakes, the bike will get discs in the front as well as the rear along with dual-channel ABS.
