Hyundai Motor India declared on Monday that it had delivered the 1,100th unit of its Hyundai Ioniq 5 EV to Shah Rukh Khan. Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan has been the brand ambassador for Hyundai in India for two decades now.
Shah Rukh Khan has been associated with the South Korean brand for around 25 years. The actor was also present at the launch event of the Hyundai Ioniq 5 EV at the 2023 Auto Expo, which was held in Greater Noida. Hyundai claims that it has sold a total of 1,000 units of the new Ioniq 5 EV in just a few months and has been receiving positive responses from customers since its official launch in the domestic market.
Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan has a wide collection of cars in his garage, and some of them are the most luxurious and priciest models in the world. The Hyundai Ioniq 5 EV has now become his first EV car. The actor stated that “I am honored to receive the all-electric SUV Hyundai Ioniq 5. This is my first ever EV, and I am glad it is a Hyundai. The Ioniq 5 is a delight to look at with its unique design and exceptional features. It is unbelievable that this EV marvel by Hyundai has surpassed its expectations and sold over 1,000 units this year. Being the oldest member of the Hyundai Motor India family, our 25-year-long journey has been really fruitful for both me and the brand.”

The Hyundai Ioniq 5 comes equipped with a 72.6 kWh battery pack, and it has a claimed ARAI range of around 630 km per charge. Within just 18 minutes, this EV can be charged from 10 percent to 80 percent by using a 350 kW DC charger. The Ioniq 5 is available at a price of INR 46 lakh (ex-showroom), and it gets a single-motor rear-wheel-drive specification that churns out 217 bhp of horsepower and 350 Nm of torque.
The Ioniq 5 also comes with a modular interior and sustainable materials incorporating a movable center console, providing a futuristic cabin. Hyundai is planning to unveil its first mass-market electric vehicle by 2025 and localize the e-GMP platform. The Ioniq 5 EV is the second electric sports utility vehicle in the country after the Kona EV to feature a purpose-built electric platform and a radical design language that maximizes packaging and space. Also, it is the first model of Hyundai to have an interior constructed from eco-friendly materials, recycled plastic, sustainable leather, and more. It is like other premium electric vehicles, as it features a V2L function that enables the car to charge from other devices.
