Skoda Kushaq Makes World Premiere in India

Skoda Kushaq is the first model from VW Group’s India 2.0 project to be unveiled.

Skoda Kushaq has finally made its global debut in the production format. The mid-size SUV is the first model to be revealed from the Volkswagen Group’s India 2.0 project. It will be offered in a total of three trims - Active, Ambition, and Style.


Skoda Kushaq is based on the India-specific MQB-AO-IN platform. In terms of dimensions, the SUV is 4,225mm long, 1,760mm wide, and 1,612mm tall. It comes with a ground clearance of 188mm and a 385-litre boot space. The production version of Kushaq is quite similar to the Vision IN concept. The front fascia flaunts a wide Skoda grille flanked by a dual-headlight set-up. On the sides, it gets body cladding on the lower parts of the doors and around the wheel. The top-end Style trim features 17-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels and roof rails while the entry-level Active variant gets 16-inch steel wheels with covers. Talking about the mid-spec Ambition trim, it comes with 16-inch alloy wheels. Towards the rear, the Kushaq boasts of wraparound LED tail-lights. It also gets a roof spoiler and a faux diffuser finished in silver. Besides these, the Kushaq is offered in a total of five color options - Candy White, Brilliant Silver, Carbon Steel, Honey Orange, Tornedo Red.


Moving inside the cabin of the Kushaq, it gets a layered dashboard with a thin chrome bar separating the top and bottom. It further gets a free-standing, 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system integrated with Apple CarPlay & Android Auto. The customizable 10-inch digital instrument cluster displays the navigation and all other driving information. It further gets “My Skoda Connect” features that lets the consumers access vital information like trip analysis, live vehicle tracking, and many more. Other feature highlights include ventilated front seats, six speakers and a 50w subwoofer, Type-C USB ports, a cooled glovebox, internal memory storage, wireless SmartLink, twin cup holders, a centre armrest, and multiple storage areas in the cabin. The SUV further boasts Climatronic with a touch control panel. In terms of safety, the Kushaq comes equipped with six airbags, auto headlamps and wipers, ISOFIX child seat mounts, and a multi-collision braking system.


Under the bonnet, it will be offered with two turbo-petrol engine options. The 1.0-litre three-cylinder turbo-petrol unit dishes out 110 bhp power while being mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox as standard along with a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox as an option. On the other hand, the 1.5-litre four-cylinder turbo-petrol motor generates 150 bhp power. This particular engine can be had with a 6-speed manual and a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic option.
