Modified Maruti Gypsy ‘Shudder’ is muscular and sportier with the new front grille.

The Gypsy is an iconic off-road vehicle developed by Maruti Suzuki which was in production from 1985-2017. Maruti Gypsy arrived in the Indian market in December 1985 with the first model being powered by a 970cc F10A Suzuki engine. The car never got much traction among the Indian consumers due to its high fuel consumption but it became a favourite of the law enforcement agencies. Maruti Gypsy had been discontinued in India nearly three years ago but it still evokes nostalgia among the automobile enthusiasts. The automotive designers always love to modify vehicles and one particular modification of the legendary Maruti Gypsy caught our eyes.

Modified Maruti Gypsy ‘Shudder’

Bangalore based Motormind Automotive Designs unveiled a modified version of Maruti Gypsy, christened as Gypsy Shudder. The front fascia is equipped with the custom-designed grille housing 4 DRLs (daytime running lights). The DRL surrounds each circular headlight of the Gypsy Shudder. Two LED lights are housed inside the canopy on the roof. The bumper is thinner compared to the one present in the standard Maruti Gypsy. The bumper also houses U-shaped LED turn indicators.

The customized front bumper looks stylish with the addition of a bash plate giving the muscular feel to the Gypsy Shudder. Loading bed is equipped with the modified Gypsy turning the off-roader as a two-seater vehicle. The side profile highlights are wheel arches and silver footsteps while the rear end features turn indicators, bash plate and LED brake lights. Motormind has mounted a spare tyre on the boot door giving an impressive feel to the Maruti Gypsy. The black off-road rims replace the stock rims and the inclusion of Maxxis Bighorn wheels improve the off-road capability.

The Gypsy Interior

If we talk about the interior of the Gypsy Shudder, it boasts of sporty seats with GT-R evolution branding. Motormind hasn’t undertaken any changes on the engine side with the Gypsy Shudder still powered by the 1298cc, four-cylinder, petrol engine. The engine churns out 80bhp of maximum power and 103Nm of peak torque. The price for the Gypsy was Rs 6.25 Lakhs (ex-showroom Delhi) before it was discontinued in India.
