On 3 February 2020, Skoda Auto India will pull off the covers of India-spec Karoq SUV. The car will be placed in the Indian stable of the group below the Kodiaq and will be shown to the public at the 2020 Auto Expo starting on February 5. Recent spy shots on the outskirts of Pune reveal the SUV conducting its road tests. A price launch is planned for the Karoq in India sometime in mid-April 2020.
The company confirmed last month's Indian launch of the Karoq SUV. As a CBU (completely built-up unit), the platform will be brought to India. In India, Skoda will initially sell the Karoq a single 150hp, 1.5-liter turbo petrol engine choice paired with either a6-speed manual or a dual-clutch7-speed automatic transmission. The Karoq will compete with the likes of the Jeep Compass, Hyundai Tucson and the new Volkswagen T-Roc SUV which will also arrive in India in the months ahead.
In addition to the Karoq, Skoda will take the covers off at the same event on February 3, 2020, a close-to-production version of the India 2.0 SUV called Skoda VisionIN model.
Maruti Suzuki will manufacture its first electric vehicle for Toyota in India, with production starting in 2025 at its Gujarat plant.
