Skoda Auto is all set to officially launch the Kushaq on June 28, 2021, in the country. The bookings for the mid-size SUV will commence on the same day. It is going to be the first model to be produced out of Skoda’s India 2.0 strategy. We can expect the price to fall in the range of Rs 10 lakhs - Rs 16 lakhs (ex-showroom). Once launched, it will compete against the likes of Hyundai Creta, Nissan Kicks, Kia Seltos, Tata Harrier, and MG Hector.
Based on the India-specific MQB-AO-IN platform, the Kushaq is likely to be offered in a total of three trims - Active, Ambition, and Style. However, Skoda might introduce the range-topping trim, Monte Carlo, later on. Upfront, it features a wide Skoda grille flanked by sleek headlamps. The rear end boasts of large wrap-around LED tail lamps, a roof-mounted spoiler, and a faux diffuser element on the bumper. Furthermore, the Kushaq will be sold in five color options - Candy White, Brilliant Silver, Carbon Steel, Honey Orange, Tornado Red.
Skoda has equipped the all-new Kushaq with a plethora of features. These include a free-standing, 10-inch touchscreen infotainment unit compatible with Apple CarPlay & Android Auto, a customizable 10-inch digital instrument cluster, ventilated front seats, Type-C USB ports, internal memory storage, six speakers & a 50w subwoofer, wireless Smartlink among many others. The SUV gets “My Skoda Connect” features that allow the passengers to access vital information like trip analysis, live vehicle tracking, and many more. The cabin further boasts of a layered dashboard with a thin chrome bar separating the top and bottom.
Performance-wise, the Kushaq will house two turbo-petrol engines under the bonnet. The 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder, turbo-petrol unit will generate a maximum power of 110 bhp. The unit can be availed with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox. The more powerful 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder turbo-petrol motor will dish out 150 bhp power. Transmission duties here will be taken care of by a 6-speed manual and a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox.
