Suzuki’s e-Survivor concept previews their small SUV future.

Suzuki went ahead and unveiled its e-Survivor concept at the Tokyo motor show. The concept was small, rugged and convertible. However, it wasn’t the smallest SUV seen from the company. It is longer and wider than the Jimny SUV.

The e-Survivor concept uses four electric motors mounted in each of the four wheels. This also makes it four-wheel-drive which is an important feature of any SUV. The wheels on the SUV are placed in the four corners and there is close to no overhang. Suzuki claims that the Vitara and Jimny were the inspiration for this SUV. The SUV has two screens, one on the steering and one on the lower part of the windshield. It comes with integrated augmented reality demonstrations of the outside environment in front of the car.

Just like the Jimny, this concept sits on a ladder frame chassis. Interestingly, Suzuki says that this model could be targeted at a market up to 100 year ahead. In spite of the aggressive future projection, the e-Survivor a steering wheel and regular driving controls.
