Tata Motors has released the first teaser of Altroz turbo petrol ahead of its launch on January 13, 2021 in the Indian market. The teaser video shows the Tata Altroz in a blue shade with the caption, "Turbocharge into 2021". Tata Altroz turbo petrol has been spotted as a test mule several times without any camouflage and it has been noticed that it will be identical to the regular Altroz in terms of styling and appearance, except for the turbo badging at the rear. The Altroz turbo petrol will take on the likes of Hyundai i20 turbo and Volkswagen Polo 1.0 TSI in India.

Several earlier reports suggested that Tata Altroz turbo petrol will be introduced in an exclusive Tectonic Blue color and the teaser video confirms it. The cabin upholstery and features are expected to be similar to the regular version of Altroz. The company is expected to start the bookings for the high-performance hatchback in the next few days. Although, a few dealers have already started taking pre-orders for the Altroz turbo petrol at a token payment of Rs 11,000. It is learnt that the performance-oriented version of Altroz will be offered in the top two trims only. Tata Motors had originally scheduled the launch of Altroz turbo petrol during the festive season of Diwali in November this year but then postponed it to January 2021.

Mechanically, Tata Altroz turbo will draw power from a 1.2L turbocharged petrol engine. This will be the slightly detuned version of Nexon's petrol engine. It will deliver a top power of 110bhp and peak torque of 140Nm as compared to Nexon's 120bhp and 170Nm. The engine will be paired with a 5-speed manual transmission initially as the 7-speed DCT automatic unit is expected to arrive at a later stage. It will be the first Tata car to feature the 7-DCT gearbox. Tata Altroz turbo petrol price is expected to be higher by at least Rs 50,000-75,000 than the top-end variant of regular Altroz. It could start at around Rs 8 Lakhs (Ex. Showroom). Stay tuned for more details on the same.
