Tata Motors first showcased the 45X concept of their premium hatchback at the 2018 Auto Expo. After multiple teasers, the Indian carmaker has officially confirmed the name of the premium hatchback as Altroz. The production version of the car will be revealed at the Geneva Motor Show next week that will reveal the styling of the new hatchback from Tata Motors.
The Tata Altroz will be launched in the Indian market by mid-2019 and it will be competing with the Maruti Baleno, Hyundai i20 and the Honda Jazz. According to the carmaker, the name Altroz is resonating with the characteristics of the Albatross. They claim that the Altroz will be known for its Agility, Speed and Efficiency along with best-in-class performance and in-cabin space.
The Tata Altroz is based on the company's new ALFA (Agile Light Flexible Advanced) Architecture. It is expected to be offered with a 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine and a 1.5-litre diesel engine. We can expect the Indian carmaker to offer the Altroz with both manual and automatic transmission options.
