Tata Motors has finally launched India’s first-ever mass-market coupe, the Tata Curvv EV, at a starting price of INR 17.49 lakh (ex-showroom). The Managing Director of Tata Motors, Shailesh Chandra, inaugurated the launch event of the EV and revealed the feature list and specifications. The new model has coupe-like aesthetics along with the practicality of an SUV, departing from the traditional SUV design we have seen in other Tata models. The SUV coupe body style is primarily seen in premium global SUVs. Tata Motors is the first OEM to bring the coupe-body style to India.
Tata is also planning to launch the internal combustion engine version of the SUV in India in the coming months. Bookings for the Tata Curvv EV will start on August 12. The test drives, on the contrary, will start on August 14. The SUV is being offered in two versions: the Curvv.ev 45 and the Curvv.ev 55. The Curvv electric started arriving at select dealerships a few days ago. It comes equipped with LED DRLs and headlights at the front and connected LED taillights at the back. When you lock or unlock the vehicle, the connected lighting displays a goodbye and welcome animation, which looks cool.
The most notable feature of the new electric vehicle is its slanting roofline. The Tata Curvv EV Coupe SUV rolls on aerodynamic 18-inch alloy wheels. It houses a small roof-mounted twin spoiler and a shark fin antenna. The Tata EV receives flush door handles and all piano black amenities on the wheel arches. The front fascia of the EV shares similarities with the Nexon. In terms of dimensions, the Curvv electric model measures 4,308 mm in length, 1,630 mm in height, and 1,810 mm in width. It has a longer wheelbase of 2,560 mm and a boot space of roughly 422 litres. The all-new Tata Curvv EV Coupe SUV is based on the brand’s new Active.ev platform and it has a certified range of around 500 km.
The electric SUV comes loaded with two battery pack options: 55 kWh and 45 kWh, for extending range and flexibility. The Curvv EV has DC charging, brake regeneration, and load functionality. It has three driving modes: Sport, Eco, and City. When it comes to features, the Tata Curvv EV houses a 12.3-inch Harman touchscreen infotainment system, various voice assistants, a digital TFT display on the instrument cluster, a powered tailgate, and the Arcade.ev app suite.
The Tata Curvv EV also receives vehicle-to-load and vehicle-to-vehicle charging features. Additionally, the electric SUV is being offered with a 6-way electricity-adjustable driver seat, ventilated front seats, paddle shifters, and a co-driver seat. Other features include a wireless charger, auto climate control, ambient lighting, and the new four-spoke steering wheel that features an illuminated Tata logo.
For safety, the Curvv electric Coupe receives Level 2 ADAS, a panoramic sunroof, six airbags, all-wheel disc brakes, and ESP with a driver doze-off alert. Powering the robust Curvv electric Coupe SUV is a 123-kW motor that helps the car sprint from 0 to 100 kmph in just 8.6 seconds. The all-electric Curvv Coupe SUV gives tough competition to the likes of the MG ZS EV, the upcoming Hyundai Creta EV, and the Mahindra XUV 400.
