Tata Motors is all set to launch their first electric car in India this year under the FAME II scheme

Following on the paths of Mahindra, Tata Motors will launch their electric vehicle later this year. The company is planning to bring the electric version of the Tiago and Tigor, as they have the best handling and dynamics amongst all the Tata cars. The powertrain of the vehicle will only be changed and rest all the mechanical parts will be shared with the regular Tiago and Tigor.

The Tata Tigor EV which has been already supplied to the Indian Government had a claimed range of 130 kms but only managed to do 70 kms. We hope both the EVs will have a battery pack with increased capacity for enhanced range. Even if the range updated Tata Tigor EV is launched, we would be joyous as we would get a massive boot for storage.

However, the vehicles will lack the features to keep the costs low. The production of the vehicle will come under the FAME II scheme which subsidises the manufacturing cost to keep the end price of the vehicle down.
