Tata Gravitas India launch will take place in first quarter of 2021, i.e. Jan-Mar 2021

Tata Gravitas has been in the news for more than a couple of years in the Indian market. Now, the final production version of the 7-seater SUV has been spotted without any camouflage, indicating that the launch is just a couple of months away. Tata Motors might have started the trial production of the Gravitas as the spied unit appears freshly rolled out of the assembly line. Tata Gravitas India launch will take place in first quarter of 2021, i.e. Jan-Mar 2021, while it will rival the likes of Mahindra XUV500 and MG Hector Plus.

Underpinning the OMEGA architecture which is a modified version of Land Rover's D8 platform, Tata Gravitas will be longer in length than the Harrier. The length has been extended to accommodate the third row of seating. The wheelbase is expected to remain the same as the Harrier. The SUV is believed to get disc brakes on all the four wheels along with electronic parking brake as standard feature. The company is also expected to introduce a 6-seater variant with captain seats in the second row. The cabin upholstery and dashboard will be borrowed from the Harrier with prominent features being a semi-digital instrument cluster and a floating touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto & Apple CarPlay.

Mechanically, Tata Gravitas will be powered by a BS6 compliant 2.0L 4-cylinder diesel engine which generates maximum power output of 170bhp and peak torque performance of 350Nm. It will be linked to a 6-speed manual transmission as standard while a 6-speed automatic gearbox will be on offer as optional. There is still no word on whether Tata Motors will be introducing a 4x4 drive system with the range-topping variants of the SUV. Tata Gravitas price is expected to start at Rs 14 Lakhs (Ex. Showroom) with the top-end variant retailing at Rs 20-22 Lakhs. Meanwhile, in other news, Tata will be launching the much-awaited and delayed turbo petrol version of Altroz hatchback in a few days in the Indian market.
