Tata Motors has just launched the Harrier CAMO Edition in the Indian market at an introductory price of Rs 16.50 lakhs (ex-showroom), India. As we revealed earlier, the flagship SUV’s Special Edition had been spied on Indian roads. With the country in the festive mood and rivals launching new models, Tata Motors hopes to boost sales with the Harrier CAMO Edition. After a torrid start to the year due to COVID-19 pandemic, the Indian automaker is seeing positive growth in the last few months. The SUV will be sold in unique green colour paint scheme. Looking at competition, Tata Harrier competes against the likes of Jeep Compass, MG Hector, Hyundai Creta and upcoming Mahindra XUV500.
Built on the OMEGARC platform which is inspired from Land Rover’s D8 platform, Tata Harrier is meant to be rugged and sporty. The CAMO green colour provided in this Special Edition will remind buyer's of military vehicles. Thus the exterior sports an all-new CAMO Badge giving a distinctive appearance while separating it from the standard Harrier models currently on sale. Tata Harrier CAMO Edition rides on 17inch Blackstone alloy wheels. Moving on to the interior, it offers a Blackstone matrix dashboard with the seats coming in premium Benecke- Kaliko Blackstone Leather fabric. Further, throughout the cabin there is gunmetal grey treatment.
Speaking on the launch of this Special Edition, Vivek Srivatsa, Head, Marketing, Passenger Vehicles Business Unit, Tata Motors said, “Living up to our promise of New Forever, we are delighted to introduce an absolutely stunning rendition of our Flagship SUV- The Harrier CAMO Edition. The Harrier, in its CAMO avatar, pays homage to the ultimate inspiration of this SUV i.e the Great Indian Outdoors, and the spirit & grit of the armed forces who spend a majority of their time in these outdoor locations, keeping our borders safe and secure. We are confident our customers will appreciate the strong, unique form of the Harrier, rendered even more robustly in the CAMO Edition, this festive season.”
Besides these, the homegrown automaker is also providing certain accessories with the vehicle. These include, custom CAMO graphics, Harrier mascot on the bonnet, roof rails and side steps for the exterior. While the cabin stands to provide back seat organizer, 3D trunk mats, sunshades, customised 3D moulded mats, OMEGARC Scuff plates and anti-skid dash mats. The just mentioned accessories here come in two packs - CAMO Stealth and Stealth+ and are available at all dealerships at a starting price of Rs 26,999.
Moving on-to performance, Tata Harrier CAMO Edition remains identical to the standard model. Thus the Special Edition comes equipped with a Kryotec 2.0-litre diesel engine. The oil mill delivers amaximum power output of 168 bhp. Transmission options offered here are a 6-speed manual and an automatic gearbox with advanced terrain response modes. Tata Motors is providing the automatic transmission from XZ variant onwards in the Harrier CAMO Edition.
