The launch date of the much awaited Tata Harrier SUV has finally been revealed by the Indian carmaker.

The long wait has come to an end as Tata finally announced that the Harrier will be launched on 23rd January, 2019. Customers who made first bookings are also slated to receive the delivery for their Tata Harrier on the very same day. Tata has started showcasing their highly anticipated SUV to the public in 11 cities, where people can get hands-on experience with the SUV.

The Tata Harrier is powered by the same engine as the Jeep Compass albeit in a lower state of tune. It's a Fiat-sourced 1956cc, 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder engine, mated to a 6-speed manual transmission. The engine develops 150 PS of power and 350 Nm of torque. Tata says that an automatic transmission would be available later in 2019. The SUV comes only in a FWD guise and Tata itself doesn't seem too keen on bringing an AWD version anytime soon given the lack of demand for it.

The SUV is based on the same platform as the Land Rover Discovery Sport, as a result both the cars have quite many things in common. This gives the Tata Harrier a significant advantage over its competitors as the platform provides the car with high amounts of strength and a fabulous ride and handling balance while giving it good off-roading traits as well. The Harrier is a quite striking in terms of design and styling and is bound to catch eyes while on road. Tata has packed the Harrier to the brim with features as well such as a 8.8-inch floating infotainment system, a 7-inch MID, 9 JBL speakers and a lot more.

Tata is offering the Harrier in 4 trims - XE, XM, XT and XZ. You can book one for yourself online or at a Tata showroom near you for Rs. 30,000/-.
