Rumors suggest that Toyota Kirloskar Motor is set to introduce the Toyota Rumion MPV in India during the upcoming festive season. The Rumion is essentially a rebadged version of the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga MPV, which was recently launched in the South African market. This collaboration marks the fifth joint product from the partnership between Toyota and Suzuki, following the Invicto, Glanza, Hyryder, and Urban Cruiser (now discontinued).
Regarding the Rumion's design, the MPV showcases a distinct front grille and a new bumper. The front grille resembles the one seen in the Innova Crysta, and the lower bumper features a revamped fog lamp housing and a chrome strip surrounding the radiator grille. On the sides, the MPV retains its original appearance but boasts uniquely designed dual-tone alloy wheels. At the rear, the only change made is the replacement of the logo, while the bumper design remains the same.
Under the hood, the Rumion will be powered by the familiar 1.5-liter NA Petrol engine, capable of producing 103 bhp of power and 138 Nm of torque. The engine will be available with a choice of a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed automatic transmission.
Expected features of the Toyota Rumion include a seven-inch touchscreen infotainment unit, keyless entry, push start/stop button, cruise control, automatic climate control, semi-digital instrument cluster, and dual airbags.
The Toyota Rumion is anticipated to be offered in two variants - G and V. Once launched, it will compete with rivals such as the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, Maruti Suzuki XL-6, Renault Triber, Citroen C3 Aircross, and the upcoming Nissan MPV.
