Tata Nexon goes digital with the removal of the physical infotainment shortcut buttons

Tata Motors has made subtle changes to the cabin of the Nexon. In the wake of keeping up with the ongoing global trends, the company has tried to make Nexon’s experience a bit more digital. It has silently removed the physical infotainment shortcut buttons.

These buttons along with the volume and tuner knobs were placed beneath the central AC vents on the dashboard earlier. It has been replaced by the new ‘Tata Nexon’ sticker. The functions of the physical buttons have now been integrated into the touchscreen. Now all functions such as home, back, smartphone, previous/next, and favourite can be easily accessed through the touchscreen. Some can also be operated through buttons on the steering wheel.

This particular change has been made on the XZ, XZ+, XZ+(S), and XZ+(O) variants that come with a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Earlier, it was possible to access these functions without taking the eyes off the road. Now the driver will have to look at the screen to use any of these functions. Despite these changes, you can still use voice commands to access some of the functions of the infotainment screen. Tata has already intimated their customers about this change.

Under the hood, the Nexon comes with two engine options. The 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol unit generates 118 bhp power and 260 Nm peak torque. While the 1.5-litre diesel engine churns out 108 bhp power and 260 Nm peak torque. Transmission options include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed AMT gearbox.
