Tata Nexon Compact SUV Gets New Entry-Level Variants; Prices Start at INR 8 Lakh

Tata Motors has rolled out new entry-level petrol and diesel variants of its famous Nexon SUV. The new entry-level variants are called Smart (O), Smart+, and Smart+ S. Tata is offering the new Nexon Smart (O) Petrol at a price of INR 8 lakh (ex-showroom). The Smart+ diesel version is priced at INR 10 lakh (ex-showroom), while the Smart+ S diesel trim comes at a price of INR 10.60 lakh (ex-showroom). Earlier, the Nexon petrol started with the Smart trim, whereas the diesel version came in the form of the mid-spec Pure variant. The company has also reduced the costs of the Smart+ S and Smart+ petrol versions by INR 40,000 and INR 30,000, respectively.

The all-new diesel variants come loaded with updated features like power windows, a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system followed by Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a reverse camera, four speakers, a multi-function steering wheel, electrically adjustable ORVMs, power windows, and a shark fin antenna. In addition, the Nexon Smart+ S diesel packs extra features such as auto headlamps, rain-sensing wipers, an electric sunroof with voice activation, and more.

The company has slashed the price of the Nexon Smart+ petrol manual trim by INR 30,000. After the price cut, the Smart+ variant is available at a price of INR 8.89 lakh (ex-showroom). This petrol manual trim was previously priced at INR 9.2 lakh (ex-showroom). It now comes equipped with a reverse camera. The Nexon Smart+ S, on the other hand, has received a price cut of INR 40,000, and the trim is now available at a price of INR 9.39 lakh (ex-showroom).

The auto marque has not made any mechanical changes to the Nexon compact SUV. The car continues to draw power from a 1.2-liter turbo-petrol engine and a 1.5-liter diesel unit. The petrol engine generates 120 hp of peak power and 170 Nm of torque, while the diesel unit can churn out peak power of 115 hp and 260 Nm of torque.

The Nexon compact SUV is packed with several features, such as a digital driver’s display, wireless charger, cruise control, 10.25-inch touchscreen, height-adjustable and ventilated front seats, a voice-assisted electric sunroof, a 9-speaker JBL sound system with a subwoofer, and more. In terms of safety features, the car has six airbags, ESP, TPMS, hill-start assist, a 360-degree camera, and more.

In the compact SUV segment, the Tata Nexon rivals the likes of the Kia Sonet, Mahindra XUV 3XO, Hyundai Venue, Fronx, Maruti Brezza, Toyota Taisor, Renault Kiger, and Nissan Magnite.
