Tata Motors announced today that it has manufactured 6 lakh units of its best-selling SUV, the Nexon. The auto giant launched the Nexon in the Indian market in September 2017, and since then, it has helped the company achieve yet another milestone this year. The sub-4 metre compact SUV is one of the most significant cars for the company, as it contributed to the brand’s popularity in the Indian automotive market. The new 6 lakh production milestone further solidifies its current position in the market, making it a preferred option among Indian buyers.

Tata Motors retails the Nexon in both EV and ICE versions. It is the ICE trim that has individually bagged this new milestone. The ICE iteration is popular among buyers due to its consistently updated features, technology, safety, and performance. The manufacturer offers the Nexon in four broad trims: Fearless, Smart, Pure and Creative. The Nexon is available at a starting price of INR 8.10 lakh (ex-showroom), and it goes up to INR 15.50 lakh (ex-showroom).

The 1.2-litre engine is offered with a five-speed manual, six-speed manual, six-speed AMT, and a seven-speed dual clutch DCT gearbox. The diesel engine, on the other hand, comes with a six-speed manual or a six-speed AMT.

The automaker also provides the EV trim of the Nexon, which is priced at INR 14.7 lakh and goes up to INR 19.94 lakh (ex-showroom). The Nexon EV is available in three variants: Empowered, Creative, and Fearless. It has two battery sets, and both have different e-motors. Tata Nexon.EV is powered by a 106.4 kW electric motor, which is paired with a 40.5 kWh battery, and the setup provides a combined output of 143 hp and 215 Nm of peak torque. The EV comes with a claimed range of 465 km on one charge.

The popular sub-compact SUV gives tough competition to the likes of Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Nissan Magnite, Renault Kiger, Mahindra XUV300, Kia Sonet, and Hyundai Venue.
