Tata Motors is all set to launch an all-new micro SUV in the form of the 'Punch' in the Indian market. The latest we have heard is that several company dealers have started taking pre-orders for the Tata Punch at a token payment of Rs 21,000. Tata Punch is expected to launch next month near the festive season in the country while it will rival the likes of Maruti Suzuki Ignis and Mahindra KUV100. Recently, the micro-SUV was spotted on a flatbed in a metallic brown paint scheme. It will only be offered with petrol engines.

Underpinning the ALFA-ARC (Agile Light Flexible Advanced Architecture) platform, Tata Punch is based on the brand's IMPACT 2.0 design language. The front fascia is inspired from Harrier and Safari with sleek LED daytime running lamps (DRLs) and a split grille. The headlamps are positioned separately on the front bumper. The company has offered black cladding on the side profile and near the wheel arches. Earlier, Tata Punch was also spotted in a dual-tone shade in Pune so, it is evident that the micro SUV will be available in both single tone and dual tone paint options. The top-spec variant is expected to get diamond cut alloy wheels and front fog lamps as well.

Mechanically, Tata Punch will be powered by a 1.2L petrol engine which will generate maximum power of 85 bhp and peak torque of 113 Nm. The range-topping variants might get a turbocharged version of the 1.2L petrol motor. The transmission choices available will be a 5-speed manual and 5-speed AMT units. Being unveiled as a concept at the 2020 Auto Expo, Tata Punch will be the company's entry-level SUV in its portfolio below the Nexon. It is being locally produced at Tata's facility in Pune while exports are also on the cards. Tata Punch price is expected to start from Rs 5 Lakhs while going as high as Rs 8 Lakhs for the top-end variant (Both prices are Ex. Showroom).
