Tata Motors has already showcased the Altroz premium hatchback at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show. The company had then said that the expected launch timeline for the Altroz was mid 2019, or around the festive season of India. Now the company has updated the website of the upcoming premium hatchback with new photos that give a glimpse of the upcoming car from the Indian maker. The car had already been spied on Indian roads and now the brand has also posted the images of the upcoming Altroz, at least partially. Upon launch in India Tata Altroz will lock horns with Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Hyundai Elite i20 and the Honda Jazz.
The company has already stated that the upcoming Altroz will be produced at Tata Motors’ factory in Pimpri near Pune. Tata will debut the ALFA ARC platform with Altroz, which in turn will make this upcoming premium hatchback shed a lot of weight. The same platform will also be seen on the upcoming H2X from the brand. As per the trend witnessed lately in Tata’s new vehicles, Altroz too seems like a car from the future. Based on the IMPACT 2.0 design this new entrant in the premium hatchback segment has long headlamps that flank the sleek grille on both the sides. A sophisticated chrome line runs across the bottom of the grille where as the top of the same has an understated black stripe that adds a subtle character to the front of the vehicle. From the rear, the Altroz looks extremely good with a black enclosure around the tail lamps that connect both the LED tail lamps.
Altroz’s interiors are properly equipped and at the centre of it sits an infotainment system in a floating style. As per the company, this unit will support Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Apart from the usual control, the dashboard carries a pretty clutter free look. As per the norms of the segment, the steering has buttons with the usual array of controls. The instrument cluster in Altroz premium hatchback is a digital-analogue unit.
The engine details of Altroz have not been disclosed by Tata, but it may carry the same petrol unit that is being offered with Tiago. On the other hand, diesel mill could be the same one that one finds on Nexon. Looking at the rivals in the segment Tata will probably offer manual as well as automatic gearboxes on Altroz. Talking of safety, Tata will likely offer 4 airbags on top model of Altroz. Keeping in view the upcoming BNVSAP, while the lower models will get 2 airbags only, the top model will have 4 airbags as standard.
