Tata Motors turns show stopper at Geneva Motor Show, unveils four news cars

Playing the show-stopper at the Geneva Motor Show, Tata Motors presented a total of 4 new cars at the gala. Not just a part of another concept gallery, these vehicles will be launched in the future, both in Indian as well as international markets. The new vehicles at the Tata Motors’ stall consisted of Altroz, Buzzard, Altroz Electric and H2X Concept.

Tata Altroz

Starting with the Altroz, this premium hatch is actually the production version of 45X Concept which was displayed at 2018 India Auto Expo. Upon launch Altroz will rival Maruti Suzuki Baleno and Hyundai Elite i20 in India. Apart from the impressive looks Altroz also features quite a futuristic design. The long headlamps flanking the sides of the grille lend quite a sleek appearance to Tata’s most premium hatchback so far.

Altroz will be built on manufacturer’s entirely new ALFA platform. The same base will be used for brand’s other future products as well. Altroz may hit Indian market around the festive season of 2019.

Tata Buzzard

While Harrier gave a glimpse of what its 7-seater version could look like, Buzzard is the final product Tata has comeup with. The internal codename of this vehicle was H7X and its production version will be sold under the name of Buzzard. This new SUV will be built on Omega Arc platform, the same platform that is found in Tata Harrier. Not just the platform but the engine on Buzzard too will be the same 2.0 liter diesel unit found on Harrier, albeit in a different state of tune.

Talking of looks, at the front, difference between Harrier and Buzzard is minor and the headlamps as well LED DRLs only add to similarities. What is different from Harrier is the plain looks Buzzard carries on the sides. In order for a roomier third-row, Tata has gone for a more flat roof on the Buzzard. Upon launch, Buzzard will replace Tata Hexa as brand’s flagship vehicle in India. As far as launch is concerned, this vehicle too will hit the Indian market around 2019 festive season.

Tata Altroz EV

While Tata Motors unveiled their Altroz EV in Geneva, no specifications of the new vehicle were disclosed. What is apparent so far is that Altroz EV will be a premium product and will be based on the same Alfa Arc platform that the fossil fuel Altroz is based on. Tata promised a long range and a powerful battery for the same on Altroz EV and it may be launched in India sometime in 2020.

Tata H2X

Tata H2X will take on Mahindra KUV100 and Maruti Ignis in India. Also referred to as Hornbill in the past, this micro SUV will sit below Nexon in company’s lineup and will be placed as value-for-money product. The public will get to see the production model of H2X at the 2020 Auto Expo in India and as far as the launch goes it is slated for a 2020 launch in India.
