Toyota Motor has unveiled the 2024 Toyota HiLux facelift with a new hybrid powertrain and front fascia. The Japanese auto giant has revealed this model ahead of its launch in the market. As of now, the HiLux facelift has been revealed for the international market, and the updated HiLux will first arrive in Australian showrooms in March this year. The famous off-road pickup version of the Toyota HiLux available in India has undergone many changes, mainly cosmetic in nature.
The HiLux now comes with a mild-hybrid powertrain, which is a first for the famous pickup truck. Toyota could also unveil the 2024 HiLux facelift version in India, as the automaker is pushing for hybrid technology in the nation. The HiLux is one of Toyota’s oldest vehicles in its segment, and the car will now be available in another facelift version.

Inside the cabin, the Toyota HiLux facelift has been updated with new features like a wireless charging pad for smartphones, automatic power windows, twin-zone automatic climate control, and rear USB-C ports. The other features equipped in the cabin remain the same as the outgoing version.
When it comes to the design language, the new HiLux appears to be a more rugged trim than the current model. It comes with a redesigned front fascia, which gives the facelift a more muscular look. The 2024 HiLux gets a black honeycomb mesh grille. The headlights integrated in the vehicle are smaller than the outgoing model, and the LED light signature makes the headlight darker. The bumper, too, comes in a glossy black color. The accessories, like fog light bezels, door handles, and rearview mirrors, are also covered in a black coating. For the cargo bed door, the new vehicle will get shock absorbers.
The Toyota HiLux is powered by a 48V mild-hybrid powertrain that goes along with engines such as the 2.4-litre, 2.8-litre diesel, and the 2.7 litre petrol unit. The automaker will offer the new mild-hybrid powertrain with the 2.8-litre diesel 4-cylinder engine trims. The powertrain will provide up to 10 percent enhanced fuel efficiency, as per the variant. The HiLux comes equipped with Toyota’s Multi-Terrain Select, which offers six drive models and better off-road capabilities.
The Vice President Sales, Franchise, and Marketing Operations of Toyota, Sean Hanley, said, “Introducing 48-Volt technology on double-cab HiLux models is an exciting step forward, improving fuel efficiency while still providing performance and capability that the HiLux is known for. Combined with dynamic styling and improved specification, the HiLux range has never looked more appealing.”
