The main objective of this recall is to address a software issue related to the automatic transmission’s ECU.

Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) has issued a recall for its flagship Land Cruiser 300 luxury SUV in India. The company said in a statement that the recall applies to 269 units of the SUV that were constructed between February 12, 2021, and February 1, 2023. The main objective of the recall is to address a software issue related to the automatic transmission’s ECU. The company has specified that no incident related to this issue has been registered so far.

The LC300 is the company’s flagship model, and its sales started back in 2021. The SUV was not launched in the Indian market until the end of 2022. However, several private importers transported the SUV to the country. In December 2022, Toyota officially launched the current-generation Land Cruiser 300 at a price of INR 2.10 crore (ex-showroom). The SUV comes equipped with a large chrome-slatted grille, 20-inch alloy wheels, tri-beam LED headlights, integrated L-shaped DRLs, roof rails, wrap-around LED taillights, and skid plates.

The Japanese automotive giant has advised consumers to bring their SUV to the service provider to reprogram the car’s 10-speed automatic transmission. Customers can bring their Land Cruiser 300 to their nearest Toyota’s dealerships, or they can visit the ‘Safety Recall' section on the company’s website. The brand’s dealerships will also contact impacted customers directly to schedule the necessary service campaign activity.

Under the hood, the Land Cruiser LC300 is powered by a 3.3-litre, V6 diesel engine. The unit produces 305 bhp of power and 700 Nm of peak torque. The engine is mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission. The SUV comes loaded with safety features like ABS, 10 airbags, an Electronic Stability Program (ESP), EBD, and a 360-degree-view surround camera setup.

The two-wheeler manufacturer has launched a new initiative to transfer vehicles from dealer stockyards to showrooms using flatbed trucks. The program will be phased in, and around 130 Toyota stores across 26 states will implement this new delivery idea.
