Toyota is offering an additional discount to COVID’19 frontline workers; hopes to encourage customers to purchase cars in these unprecedented times.
Toyota Kirloskar Motors is offering huge discounts and benefits on its hatchback, Glanza and sedan, the Yaris. The Japanese automaker is doing this in an attempt to boost sales and cover up the losses caused during Coronavirus lockdown. The Yaris is priced in the range of at Rs 8.86 lakhs - Rs 14.3 lakhs (ex-showroom). Toyota Glanza, on the other hand, falls in the price bracket of Rs 7.01 lakhs - Rs 8.96 lakhs (ex-showroom).
Toyota is offering discounts and benefits up to Rs 47,500 on the Glanza. This offer includes a cash discount of Rs 15,000 and an exchange bonus of Rs 15,000. Apart from this, the COVID’19 frontline workers such as doctors, military, or police personnel can avail an additional discount of Rs 17,500.
The company is also offering huge benefits amounting to Rs 72,500 on the Yaris. As per this offer, eligible customers can avail a cash discount of Rs 20,000 and an exchange bonus of Rs 20,000. Similar to the Glanza, Toyota is offering an additional discount of Rs 32,500 to COVID’19 frontline workers.
Mechanically, Toyota Glanza draws power from a 1.2-litre petrol engine that produces 83 bhp power and 113 Nm torque. The engine is linked to a 5-speed manual gearbox along with a CVT automatic transmission as an option. The same petrol engine comes with a hybrid system and churns out 90 bhp power. As for Yaris, it draws power from a 1.5-litre, four-cylinder petrol engine that belts out 107 bhp of maximum power output with 140 Nm of peak torque. Its powertrain is mated to a 6-speed manual transmission along with CVT gearbox as an option. Toyota Glanza takes on the likes of Maruti Suzuki Baleno and Tata Altroz. While the Yaris competes against the likes of Skoda Rapid, Honda City, Volkswagen Vento, and Hyundai Verna.
