TVS Apache RTR 165 RP will be the company’s first bike in the new Race Performance sub-brand

TVS Motor Company released a teaser video of its upcoming motorcycle on its official social media handle. The teaser video does not reveal much of the information except that the upcoming bike will be the ‘Pinnacle of Performance’. Going by the trademark application filed by the company back in September, we can expect the name of the motorcycle to be ‘Apache RTR 165 RP’ where RP stands for Race Performance. This further gives us a hint that the motorcycle will be launched under the sub-brand of TVS - Race Performance.

Talking about the upcoming motorcycle in detail, we can expect it to be based on TVS RTR 160 4V. However, it will get some revision in order to distinguish itself from the latter. The ergonomics of the bike will also be tweaked so as to provide a more aggressive riding posture to the bike. We can expect the bike to get similar features as it is present on the RTR 160 4V. Having said that, the feature highlights include all-LED illumination, LED DRL, a one-touch start, Glide Through Traffic (GTT) technology, a fully digital instrument console, and many others.

Performance-wise, TVS might use the 159.7cc, single-cylinder, oil-cooled engine that currently does duty on Apache RTR 160 4V. In the present state, this particular motor churns out a top power of 17.63 bhp and a peak torque of 14.73 Nm. The motor is mated to a 5-speed gearbox. In the upcoming motorcycle, we can expect the power and torque to be retuned a bit along with subtle tweaks made to the gear ratios as well. The brand might offer some new kits with the Apache RTR 165 RP, which will further allow the customer to tune their motorcycle as per their requirements.

As for the price of the upcoming motorcycle, it is likely to be around Rs 5000 - Rs 10,000 more expensive than the top-end RTR 160 4V. Currently, TVS RTR 160 4V falls in the price range of Rs 1.15 lakh - Rs 1.21 lakh (ex-showroom).
