Tomorrow, November 4, 2020, is the date to look forward as TVS Motor Company is unveiling a new motorcycle in the country. Just a week ago, the Chennai-based manufacturer had shared info about a new product introduction on the 4th of November. The speculation is rife regarding the bike type with no information yet forthcoming from TVS Motorcycles. Though one possibility is that the brand could be celebrating the Apache’s 4 million sale milestone. From that point of view, our guess is that the new bike could be a naked roadster from the Apache RTR range. Another possibility could be a brand new RTR 310 based on the 310 cc platform. As of now, Apache RR 310 is the brand’s flagship offering in the domestic market.
The teaser image gives us ample hints about the upcoming motorcycle such as a LED headlamp cluster housing LED DRL’s and a muscular fuel tank. If the manufacturer does unveil Apache RTR 310, expect its pricing in the range of Rs 2.0 lakh -Rs 2.30 lakh (ex-showroom), India. Once launched it would rival the KTM Duke 250, Bajaj Dominar 400 in the country.
Upcoming RTR 310 would be quite similar to the RR310 supersport bike currently being sold in the country. RR 310 received a BS6 compliant engine with new features like 4 riding modes, TFT instrument cluster, Bluetooth technology among others. The bike is powered by a single-cylinder 312.2 cc liquid-cooled engine delivering 33.5 bhp of power output and 27.3 Nm of peak torque. The engine would be coupled to a 6-speed gearbox with a slipper clutch as a standard offering.
Chances are slim of the bike manufacturer launching naked streetfighter sibling of the RR 310. There is an off-hand chance that TVS would preview the bike before announcing the launch probably next year or so. Another possibility we can’t discount is the special edition models of the popular RTR 200 4V or the RTR 160 4V. It could come with new body graphics and features. This could be launched to celebrate the success of the Apache series plus keeping in mind the festive season to woo new customers. Limited-Edition RTR 160 4V could come with the signature TVS' SmartXonnect system which is missing in the standard model on sale currently.
