The joint partnership between both expects a substantial surge in EV deliveries in the Taiwan region.

Uber Eats Taiwan and Gogoro Inc. have revealed a two-year partnership to encourage the latter's delivery riders to switch to electric scooters. Building on an earlier announcement this year, the partnership, valued at approximately USD 30 million (INR 249.27 crore approx.), will provide delivery partners with discounted pricing on Gogoro scooters and battery swapping services to expedite the adoption of EVs. Furthermore, rewards will be given for deliveries made using Gogoro Smartscooter.

By the end of 2025, Uber Eats anticipates that 40% of deliveries will use electric scooters, a rise from present-day 20%.

Chai Lee, General Manager, Uber Eats, Taiwan said, “Making it easy and affordable for delivery partners to switch to electric scooters is a top priority for Uber Eats in Taiwan. We have already seen how Uber Eats delivery partners have embraced Gogoro’s EV scooters and smart battery-swapping technology. Today’s agreement stands to supercharge this, bringing cleaner air to cities across Taiwan and helping us toward our goal of eliminating emissions on all global deliveries by 2040.”

Under the guidance of more than 1.3 million smart batteries spread over a network of 12,000 battery-swapping stations spanning over 2,500 locations, the Gogoro Network in Taiwan supports a community of almost 6 lakh riders.

“On average, last mile delivery riders ride more than six-times the distance as consumer riders, so enabling these delivery riders to adopt smart sustainable electric transportation can have an accelerated impact on a city,” commented Horace Luke, Founder and CEO, Gogoro.
