Audi is working on bringing on the next-gen A8 to India; it will be available in the long-wheelbase trim. The car is expected to make its Indian debut sometime in the second half of 2018. The premium sedan from Audi will use the company’s new MLB platform.
The luxury sedan will get a simple modern dashboard with a restyled steering wheel. The car will also come with touchscreen controls. The reworked cabin also features seats that are 4kg lighter than the outgoing A8. The addition of high-definition graphics and a new multimedia system will further modernise the car.
The body structure makes use of aluminium, steel magnesium and carbon fibre to keep weight in check. The upcoming A8 will also feature a high level of autonomous tech however; this feature making it to India is highly unlikely. In India, we will see the A8 being powered by a 3.0-litre, six-cylinder diesel engine that makes 250hp and 500Nm of torque.
In India, the A8L will take on BMW 7-Series and the Mercedes-Benz S-Class.
Tata Motors currently occupies the second spot in this illustrious ranking, only behind Hyundai Motor, with a market value of USD 27.15 billion but have shortened the gap with their heightened between them and Kia Motors.
