Hyundai Alcazar will be positioned between the Creta and Tucson in the Indian market

Hyundai India has announced the name of its upcoming 7-seater SUV as 'Alcazar' in the country. Having completed 25 years in the Indian market, Hyundai is expanding its product portfolio with the introduction of an all-new 7-seater SUV which will be based on the Creta. Hyundai Alcazar will be positioned between the Hyundai Creta and Tucson in the company's vehicle lineup while taking on the likes of Tata Safari, Mahindra XUV500 and MG Hector 7-seater. Its world premiere take place later this year, while it will be locally developed at Hyundai's Chennai plant.

Commenting on the announcement, S S Kim, MD & CEO, Hyundai Motor India Ltd., said, “The year 2021 will add a new chapter in HMIL history, as we gear-up to enter and redefine a new segment. Hyundai ALCAZAR will supersede the aspirations of new age buyers and redefine existing benchmarks to ensure customer delight. As Hyundai completes 25 years in the country, we will re-emphasize our commitment to Indian customers with the Global Debut of Hyundai ALCAZAR that is ‘Made in India’ and ‘Made First for India’.” Hyundai Alcazar will go on sale in India before any other country in the world. The SUV has been spotted testing several times on the Indian roads and spy-shots have emerged of both exterior and interior to give a fair amount of information regarding its styling and features.

Hyundai Alcazar is expected to get the Creta's 7-inch all digital instrument cluster and a 10.25-inch infotainment system with Apple CarPlay & Android Auto. Various other features such as automatic climate control, cruise control, rear AC vents and wireless charging could also be offered with the range-topping variants. There could well be a 6-seater version of the SUV with captain seats in the middle row. As far as engine options are concerned, Hyundai Alcazar will draw power from a 1.5-litre turbocharged CRDi diesel unit and a 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol motor. The transmission choices could be a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic unit. Hyundai Alcazar price could start at Rs 11.50 lakhs and go as high as Rs 18 lakhs for the top-end variant.
