Maruti Suzuki is all set to launch a slew of new cars and SUVs in the Indian market in the coming months. The company had recently discontinued the diesel variants of its entire product range in India due to the implementation of stricter BS6 emission norms from April 1, 2020. It is now focusing on the petrol, CNG and hybrid vehicles for the country. Maruti has also been working on a few all-new models for our country which will be launched in 2020. Let's have a look at the upcoming Maruti cars in India in 2020.
Maruti Suzuki has been readying the new-generation Celerio hatch for the Indian market and it could well be launched by the end of 2020 in India. Being internally codenamed as YNC, the new-gen Maruti Celerio will feature an all-new design while the interior quality will also be improved, followed by the BS6 compliant 1.0L petrol engine.
Maruti Suzuki showcased the Jimny SUV at the 2020 Auto Expo and it was received very well by the auto enthusiasts. Being touted as the spiritual successor to the highly successful Maruti Gypsy which was discontinued long back, Maruti Jimny will be launched during the festive season around October-November this year in India. Though, the company will launch the more conventional 5-door version in India rather than the 3-door model which was on display at the Auto Expo in February. There is no word yet if it will get an all-wheel-drive version or not in our country.
Maruti Suzuki had discontinued the S-Cross in April as it was only available with a diesel engine. Since then, the company has teased the petrol-powered model of the crossover quite a few times but it hasn't been launched yet. The reports confirm that Maruti S-Cross petrol will get the same BS6 compliant 1.5L 4-cylinder engine as Ciaz and Ertiga while it launches in July/August 2020 in India.
Maruti Suzuki will venture into the EV space with the Wagon R as its first fully electric model. The company had started testing the Wagon R EV Concept last year itself and it could be launched before the end of 2020 in India. As far as price is concerned, it is expected to cost less than Rs 10 Lakhs while coming with a range around 130-150kms on a single charge.
New-Generation Maruti Vitara Brezza
Maruti Suzuki launched the 2020 Vitara Brezza facelift at the Auto Expo in February. The sub 4-m SUV was launched in India in 2016 and despite the mid-cycle facelift introduced a few months back, it is due for a generation change. Several reports have revealed that the new-generation Maruti Vitara Brezza is in works and it would be retailed via both the Arena and Nexa showrooms, ala Maruti Ertiga and Maruti XL6. In fact, it is also being speculated that the new-gen model might also spawn a Toyota model when it is finally launched by the end of 2021.
