Skoda Auto India is planning to officially debut the Kushaq in March this year. Following this, the model will start arriving at dealerships and its bookings will also open. The production version of the SUV was recently spotted under heavy camouflage doing test runs in Chennai. Now, ahead of the official launch, Skoda Auto has revealed the engine details of the upcoming Kushaq.
As per the information, the SUV will be offered with two petrol engine options. The 1.0-litre 3-cylinder TSI unit will generate 119 bhp power while the 1.5-litre 4-cylinder TSI will dish out a maximum power of 148 bhp. The torque details have not been revealed yet. Transmission options will include a 6-speed manual gearbox as standard on both the engines. Talking about the automatic gearbox, we can expect the 1.0-litre motor to get a 6-speed AT and the 1.5-litre to be offered with a 7-speed DCT gearbox.
The upcoming Kushaq will be underpinned by India-specific VW’s MQB AO (IN) platform. From the spy images revealed earlier, we could clearly see that the test mule carried forward the concept’s design elements. The Czech automaker had earlier showcased the Kushaq as the Vision IN concept during the Delhi Auto Expo last year. Coming back to the production-version of Kushaq, it will get two-part LED headlamps, the signature Skoda grille, and LED taillights in terms of design.
The spy images also revealed that the 2021 Skoda Kushaq will feature an instrument cluster with blue illumination and a sizeable MID. The layout of the touchscreen will be similar to the one seen in the concept. Furthermore, we can further expect the SUV to get features like low set center AC vents, automatic climate control, a multi-function steering wheel, and a dual-tone interior.
