BMW continues with its product blitz by launching updated versions of its M3 Sedan and M4 coupe. This comes after BMW used the 2018 Auto Expo to launch its new M5, 6-series GT and petrol version of the X6 M sport. Priced at Rs 1.30 crore and Rs. 1.33 crore for the sedan and coupe respectively, the 2018 M performance cars get dearer by around Rs 4 lakh.
Both the M3 and M4 come with the formerly option ‘Competition pack’ as standard now and see the inclusion of exhaust pipes finished in black, a carbon roof and gloss paint finish. There’s also an increase in power with the 3.0-litre, in-line six-cylinder turbo-petrol mill making 450hp at 7,000rpm (up by 19hp) while torque remains same at 550Nm. Also, standard, is a stiffer setup for the Adaptive M suspension (which features three modes – Comfort, Sport and Sport+) and a louder M Performance exhaust. Just as before, the engine transfers power to the rear wheels via a seven-speed, dual-clutch automatic gearbox. Both cars will also feature adaptive LED headlamps and tail-lamps as well.
Both cars come with 19-inch alloys, shod with 255/35 R19 rubber up front and 275/35 R19 at the rear. Buyers can also pay for optional 20-inch wheels, with 265/30 R20 front and 285/35 R20 rear rubber. The options list continues with carbon-ceramic brakes, a Driver’s Package that increases top speed to 280kph (from 250kph), parking assist and a 360-degree camera.
The M3 sedan will compete with the Mercedes-AMG C 63 S that is priced at Rs 1.44 crore (ex-showroom, India) while the M4 coupe will see forthcoming competition in the form of the Audi RS5 coupe which is expected reach our shores by the end of this month.
